June Utahna Tatton

June 11, 1922 — May 31, 2021

June Utahna Boss Tatton, age 98, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2021 in her home. She was born June 11, 1922 to Conrad and Ruby Abegglen Boss. She attended elementary school in Midway and graduated from Wasatch High School being active in musical and vocal productions.

She married Richard George Tatton on June 4, 1944, later divorced. To them was born one son, Richard Conrad Tatton. She lived in the family home in Midway with her parents and son.

She played the piano in many dance bands and taught many children their first piano lessons. She accompanied the Swiss Choir for many decades. She was an original member of the Grand Tappers and the Swiss Handbell Ringers. She worked as a secretary for Stanley Title and then as a legal secretary for Jim Smedley for more than 30 years.

She lived a life of service and compassion, taking care of her grandmother and then mother. She was active in her church, playing the piano in Relief Society, and serving in many other ways. Her last act of service was placing flowers on her relatives graves. When that was done, she went to visit them a few hours later. She was always a cheerful and happy person, spreading sunshine wherever she was. She loved to garden and share the beautiful flowers she grew.

June and her family were part of the first Swiss Days, wearing her great grandmother’s original Swiss dress. They sold eggs and produce from their garden and later a Swiss lunch and Swiss pastries. Besides her booth, she accompanied the Swiss Choir, rode in the parade and played the handbells.

June is preceded in death by her parents and brother Jay Boss. She is survived by her son Richard Tatton, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, June 3 at 11am at the Midway City Cemetery, 600 West 500 South in Midway, Utah. Friends are encouraged to attend.
