Judy Joanne Breeden, our Mom, Mo, Grandma, giver of pure love, the protector and matriarch of our family, passed peacefully at her home surrounded by family on March 6, 2024. We can only imagine the long-awaited reunion with her husband who she missed so deeply. Jim and his sweet Jude are in each other's arms once more.
Judy was born on January 8, 1950, to Clarence and Grace Thompson. She grew up with her brother Ronald on their family farm in Wallsburg. The farm held such a special place in her heart and was the place of her most fond childhood memories- an unbreakable bond with her brother, making mischief with cousins, riding horses, and always returning home to a hot meal and warm embrace from her mother. Later in life, she drew close to her father when she cared for him in his failing health for many years.
Her early life was marked by several heartbreaking events, the loss of her brother, her first baby, and her mother. Oh, how she cherished them and missed them. Judy did not let these losses harden her heart; they made the love for her family unconditional. Family was her everything. Judy was raising her two boys, Rick and Roy, when she met her soulmate Jim, and they married on June 15, 1981. They added a daughter, Misty, and Judy’s family was complete. She often said that raising her children was the happiest time in her life. Being a mother was no small feat, there was never a dull moment. They enjoyed fishing, camping, and doing many activities outdoors together. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays, and especially having Easter egg hunts at the farm. Eventually grandchildren became the highlight of her life, spoiling with treats and outings. Time spent together with family was all she ever wanted.
No matter what Judy did she poured her whole heart into it, nurturing those around her. She worked hard and taught her family the values of dedication and loyalty. She loved animals, especially the animals that always somehow found their way to her. Throughout her life she had several pets by her side. Not just dogs and cats, but chickens, geese, and sheep. She cared for them all. Tending to her beautiful flower garden was one of her favorite things. She watched as the monarchs hatched on milkweed and hummingbirds ate from her hollyhocks. It was her little fabled haven. She would pick seeds and admire blossoms. The special things in life gravitated to her tender soul.
Judy had an immeasurable amount of empathy for those around her, feeling so deeply and wanting to take any burden from others. Her compassion truly made the world a better place. She held a place of love, free from judgment, a welcoming heart for anyone. We will forever miss our sweet Mo. Until we meet again.
She is survived by sons Rick Montoya, Roy (Meschelle) Montoya, daughter Misty (Chris) Givens, grandchildren Kemmer Watts, Kimberly (Colton) Sweat, Ricky Montoya, Roy Montoya, Jett Givens, Cole Givens, and Brook Givens. Great grandsons MaCoy Sweat, and her newest little joy, Aiden K Sweat.
Welcomed into heaven by her brother Ronald Fred Thompson, daughter Annette Leona Montoya, mother Grace Cox Thompson, father Clarence Thompson, husband James William Breeden, and countless pets and many friends.
Services will be held Monday March 11, 2024 at the LDS church, 2395 South Mill Road in Heber City. There will be a viewing from 9:00-10:30 am and funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at the Wallsburg cemetery.
Thanks to all of those who showed love to our Mom, especially as her days drew to a close.
