Our beautiful mother, sister, grandma, great grandma and friend Juanita Ross Zenger, passed peacefully on Monday, October 21,2019, at the home of her daughter, Barbara, in Boise, Idaho. Juanita was born August 3, 1925, in Heber City,Wasatch County, Utah, to Lorin Dee Ross and Juanita Naomi Burgener Ross. Ten days after her birth her mother passed away from a leg infection. Juanita was reared by her grandmothers, Elizabeth Alexander Ross and Naomi Alice Burgener and a step-mother, Freda Ross.
Juanita met the love of her life, Dean Lamont Zenger, when they became neighbors. They were married June 11, 1942, in the Salt Lake Temple. Dean was drafted and sent to Luke Airforce Base in Arizona. Juanita joined him and they lived in Arizona four years. After the war, they returned to Midway where they made their home. Three daughters were born into this union. Dean passed away on November 20, 1998.
Juanita was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served as secretary for the Primary and Young Women’s organizations. She also served as the ward librarian for many years. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel and set a wonderful example for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Juanita followed in her grandmother’s footsteps becoming the postmaster of the Midway, Utah, Post Office. She served in that capacity for many years. Juanita worked at the Palace Drug Store in Heber City and later for the Wasatch County School District as secretary for the middle school and high school. She instilled an excellent work ethic for her children.
Juanita is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Zenger, Boise, Idaho; Shirlee (Gary) Christensen, Mapleton, Utah; and Charlene (Brad) Hulse, of Heber City, Utah; her grandchildren, Jade (Chris) Smith, Chase (Heather) Hulse, Curtis (Jamie) Christensen, Malena (Clayton) Case, and Kady (Matt) Rudy. She also has six great grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Sammie Smith, Treyson Christensen, Scarlett Christensen, Chloe Case, and Kodan Christensen. She is also survived by two sisters, Lila Mae Johnson, and Jeannine Maxfield.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Dean Zenger, parents and grandparents; brothers, Donald Ross, Alvah Ross, and sister, Annette Hall.
A viewing will be held at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday, October 28th at the Probst Funeral Home in Midway, Utah. A graveside service will follow the viewing. Burial at the Midway Cemetery.
