Joyce Marie Young Larsen

June 25, 1933 — January 9, 2023

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt, Joyce Marie Young Larsen, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2023, at her home in Wallsburg, Utah. She was born on June 25, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ralph Young and Florence Mildred Christensen. She was lucky number five of a total of eight children: Wendell, LaVerl, Naomi, James, Carol, Jack, and Boyce. Joyce loved her brothers and sisters very much.

Joyce grew up in Wallsburg, Utah and attended school in Wallsburg at the old schoolhouse until about the 10th grade. She soon met a young dashing, and very handsome man by the name of Roy A Larsen. She was absolutely in love at first sight when she spotted him out the kitchen window, while doing her chores. She asked her mother "who is that handsome man" and she replied, "you never mind and do the dishes". Roy was a friend of Wendell’s and was invited to come back home to Wallsburg after his service in the Navy, they were married July 3, 1948, and later sealed for time and all eternity September 3, 1953, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Joyce and Roy had a total of five children Roy Allen, Robert Gary, Jesse, Randy Rae, and Cathy Mae. They were stricken with unbearable grief when the lord called home Robert and Randy at a very young age and then again with the passing of Roy Allen much later in life. She was a very strong woman and could handle just about anything that life would throw at her. Many hard times were had but together they could handle anything.

The family moved to Arizona as Roy worked construction traveling from job to job. Joyce was the typical homemaker from that time period with her big beehive hair and dresses. She made sure her family was always taken care of. The kids grew up and with that it was time to look at retirement. They purchased a piece of property in Wallsburg near the place she grew up as a child. Roy would work, save, and then travel to Wallsburg and build a little each time until the home was completed sometime in the mid to late 80s. This would be the place that they would enjoy the rest of their lives. They would enjoy many hunting, fishing, camping, jeep rides up the valley, and many many more memories with their children, and grandchildren, nieces, nephews. brothers and sisters. Family was and is everything.

Joyce loved everything girl. She had a special bond with her granddaughters and would often give them perms with lots of curls, dress up and fashion shows with her vintage dresses. She loved to shop, especially from Old Pueblo Traders or Blair catalogs. She loved to have makeovers usually provided by her granddaughters this would always include hair, makeup and of course eyebrows. She loved to cook for family gatherings and always wanted to make sure you had enough to eat. This spunky little lady sure will be missed but never forgotten. Until we meet again see ya later for now. We love you to the moon and stars and back.
