Our sweet special needs son, brother, and uncle, Joel Scott Horrocks, passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Provo, Utah, on November 14, 1970, to Sheldon Glen and Aleen Phillips Horrocks.
Joel was the youngest of six children, and with his big smile and his eyes dancing with mischief he brought much love and joy to his family. He taught his family many things like patience, acceptance, unending love, and finding happiness in even the smallest accomplishments.
For most of his life, Joel resided in group home settings around the Salt Lake area. Because of this, he was able to experience and participate in many normal, everyday activities that would not have been possible otherwise. His quality of life was greatly enhanced through the efforts of those working with him.
He is survived by his father, Sheldon Glen Horrocks, of Duchesne, Utah, and three remaining siblings: Jim (Koreen) Horrocks of Price, Utah, Tawnya (Tim) Burt of Duchesne, Utah, and Tammy (Scott) Hatch of Vernal, Utah, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, a brother, Sheldon Glen Horrocks, and a sister, Dixie Aleen Horrocks.
The family would like to express their appreciate and love to all those who have in some way been a part of Joel's 54 years of life.
A viewing will be held at the Heber Valley Funeral Home, located at 288 North Main Street, Heber City, Utah 84032 on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 11:00 45 AM with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place in the Heber City Cemetery following the services.
