Jodie Widdison

May 15, 1959 — September 15, 2017

Our loving father and grandpa, Jodie Widdison, passed away on September 15, 2017 in Heber City, Utah at the age of 58.

Jodie was born on May 15, 1959 in Heber City, Utah to parents LaVell and Arlene Widdison. In his youth he was a boy scout and spent most of his time outside, fishing, helping with chores and trying to stay out of trouble. He loved spending his free time at his Grandma and Grandpa Mecham's house and playing with his older brothers up in the mountains.

During high school Jodie's main focus was football. He loved playing football and his skills earned him records and the nickname "Sherman Tank". After graduating high school Jodie traveled across the country working construction and living in multiple states from Colorado to Florida. He could do just about anything from laying brick to running heavy machinery. Besides having a great skill set he also was very selfless and giving. He would help anyone at anytime with anything that he could.

One of his jobs took him to Memphis, Tennessee where he met Judy Hicks. They later married on May 27, 1986 (divorced) and were blessed with five children. Jodie worked as hard as a man could to provide for his family. When he wasn't working you could find him at the lake with a pole in his hand. He passed on his love of fishing to his children and granddaughter Lily. As much as he loved to fish, if one of his children were with him he would spend the entire time tying on lures and relining snapped lines. He always said "When you go fishing with your kids you really just watch your kids fish" and that was just fine with him. He loved fishing but he also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, going to the rodeo, or anything else that could get him outside and around nature.

Jodie was a one in a million kind of man. He was selfless, caring, sarcastic, loving, ornery, and had a huge heart. Jodie was deeply loved and will be severely missed.

Jodie is survived by his children, Kyle Widdison, Sierra (Jordon) Neal, Taylor Widdison, and Luke Widdison. He is also survived by his granddaughter Lily Neal. Jodie is survived by his mother Arlene Widdison Chandler, sister-in-law, Suzanne Widdison, along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Jodie was preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Widdison Meyer along with his father, LaVell Widdison, and his three brothers, Rick Widdison, LaVell Widdison Jr. and Michael Widdison.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am in the Charleston Ward (3450 S. 3500 W, Charleston, UT) on Saturday, September 23, 2017. There will be a viewing prior to the services from 9:30-10:30am. Burial will follow in the Charleston Cemetery.
