Jodie Merlene Chasel passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of beauty, strength, and love that will not be forgotten.
Jodie was born in Payson Utah on May 6th, 1935 to Max Elbert Elmer and Grace Myers. She married Elwood Milton Johnson “Mose” and together raised 5 loving children. After his untimely passing, Jodie met and fell in love again with John D. Chasel, bringing companionship and joy into the next chapter of her life.
Jodie was a woman whose presence filled every room she entered. Known for her striking beauty and elegant style, she carried herself with grace and confidence, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. But beyond her outward beauty was a warm and vibrant spirit that defined who she truly was.
She was a devoted and loving wife, a nurturing mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished great-grandmother. An entrepreneur at heart, she managed a spa in Springville, Utah and then went on to open her own health spa in Provo, where she combined her passion for wellness with her natural talent for connecting with people. Jodie also had a deep love for adventure. Whether traveling, exploring new opportunities, or embracing life’s unexpected moments, she lived boldly and fully. She loved to hunt and spend time boating, embracing the outdoors with enthusiasm. Some of her happiest moments were simple ones—sitting on the porch with her husband John, enjoying each other’s company. She also loved getting dressed up and going out for nice dinners, always carrying her signature elegance wherever she went. She will be remembered for her beauty, her strength, her adventurous spirit, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her legacy will live on through the memories we shared and we know that she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Grace Elmer; sister Bonnie Singleton; brother Dan Elmer; daughters, Connie Daley and Carie Evans; and John D. Chasel, her husband.
She is survived by her children Terri Stoddard; Kevin Johnson, and Troy Johnson; sister Vonda Bouchard; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren
A memorial service to celebrate Jodie’s life will be held on Saturday May 2nd, at 11:00 am at the Heber Valley Funeral Home (288 North Main St. Heber City) A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service (10:00-11:00) and graveside services following the funeral at the Park City Cemetery (1300 Kearns Blvd. Park City).
