Jessie Ellen Nye Shirk

Jessie was born April 22, 1943, in Keetley, Utah, to Erycel and Ellen Clara Rhoades Nye. She passed away Sunday evening, June 15, 2025, at the Heber Valley Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Jessie grew up in Heber and Midway, Utah. She graduated from Wasatch High School.

Jessie was a loving mother to Jana (Scott) Anderson, Blaine (Kimberli) Shirk and Ralph Herbert "Butch" (Melody) Shirk.

Jessie worked hard all of her life including at sewing factories and hospitality in Park City, Utah.

Jessie loved being in the mountains, camping and attending family reunions. She had a beautiful singing voice and would often sing duets with her brother, Tom.

She was a Senior Companion for over 15 years and loved those that she served and they loved her.

She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and loved her pioneer history. She loved doing family history and scrapbooking.

Jessie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony. She looked forward to attending her meetings on Sundays. She was very excited when she went to the Provo Utah Temple and was sealed to her family.

Jessie is survived by her children and their spouses; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary (Wesley) Sweat; sisters-in-law Kay Geddes and Freddie Nye; and brother-in-law Martin Kovick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Allen E. Nye and Thomas Arlen Nye; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Earl Bates, Shirlene and LeeRoy Richardson; and sister, Susan Kovick.

There will be a viewing Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Friday, June 20, 2025 from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. All at the Daniel 2nd Ward, 2285 South Daniel Road, Heber, Utah. Burial will be in the Tabiona Cemetery, Tabiona, Utah at 2:30 pm following the services.
