Jean Crook Morris

March 17, 1943 — December 28, 2022

Jean Crook Morris passed away peacefully at her home in Kamas, Utah on December 28, 2022. She lived seventy-nine wonderful years surrounded by her family and friends. Jean was born in Heber City, Utah on March 17, 1943. She married her best friend, Larry Morris, soon after graduating from high school. Jean and Larry were married for 61 wonderful years.
Jean was always up for any adventure with Larry. They enjoyed the great outdoors by camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, taking road trips, or simply admiring the view from their deck in Kamas. They also loved to experience the incredible Alaskan beauty from the deck of a cruise ship.
Jean was a loving mother who was always there for her children’s ball games, graduations, and dance recitals. Later she attended the birth of every grandchild and great-grandchild, at times wearing a t-shirt inscribed with the phrase “I’m the Grandma!” She supported them in many of their adventures and achievements. What a fun and supportive “Nana” she was!
Jean was known for her unconditional love of family and friends. She was generous with her love and support. She dedicated many years to mentoring young women through girls’ camps. Teaching young women outdoor skills and helping them to navigate their teen years was a skill she excelled at. She also taught primary and loved working in the nursery with the children.
Jean always made everyone feel welcome in her home. She welcomed the neighbor kids into her home and to some, she was referred to as a “second mom”. She liked to laugh, teach kids, tease, and hug. She helped everyone enjoy life, even leaving us all laughing at our final Christmas party a few days before her passing.
The annual Crook Family Reunion was a highlight for Jean every year where she could gather with her family and help with all the activities for the kids. The laughter, pranks, entertainment, and of course good food and love brought the family even closer each year. Nothing was more important to Nana than her family.
Jean is survived by her husband Larry and three children - Lorie, Shawna, and Jay, and siblings – Barbara (Biff), Ralph (Diane), Dave (Vickie), and Brian (Jeri). She is now reunited in heaven with parents Harvey and Beth Crook, sister Karlyn, and brother-in-law Roy.
A graveside service will be on Thursday, Jan 5, 2023, at noon at the Heber City Cemetery for family and friends. The family will be meeting at Don Pedro’s Family Mexican Restaurant in Heber after the graveside service.
A celebration of her life will take place in the springtime when we can all gather outside and celebrate Jean Morris --the loving and caring, mother, wife, sister, and friend to all.
A tribute website will be set up where people can post stories or pictures of Jean Morris, and will be found here as soon as it is available.
