Jean Larsen Hylton, 85, died October 25, 2016, in Heber City, Utah.
Jean was born October 21, 1931, in Spanish Fork, the daughter of Joseph Burgis Larsen and Gladys Davis Larsen. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School where she was interested in and participated in many business classes and competed successfully in state DECA competitions in secretarial skills. She later attended Utah State University where she met her future husband. She also worked for a time for the phone company in Salt Lake City.
She married Blain R. Hylton on March 17, 1952, in Spanish Fork. Soon after their marriage Jean and Blain moved to Heber City where she spent the remainder of her life. Blain was part-owner of Pikes Peak Garage and Hylton Auto Supply and Jean was at his side assisting in that business for many years. After her children got older Jean went to work for Heber Light and Power and then later in the Wasatch County Clerk s office doing secretarial work. Following her retirement she and Blain enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Jean and Blain are the parents of four sons--Cary, Kent, Ron, and Joe. They were wonderful parents who made every effort to teach and support their sons. They set an example of honesty, hard work, loyalty, and devotion to family. The family enjoyed vacations together, particularly boating trips to Bear Lake, Flaming Gorge, and Lake Powell. After Joe was tragically injured in a work accident Blain and Jean showed true love and devotion caring for him for many years. They were truly selfless during those difficult years.
Jean enjoyed water and snow skiing, playing the piano, sewing, quilting and other handwork, reading and being with her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served at various times in the Primary and Relief Society usually playing the piano.
Jean is survived by three sons: Cary (Paula) Hylton of Springville, Utah; Kent (Margo) Hylton of Heber City; and Ron (Leslie) of Heber City; and her sister Joyce (Ron) Bills of Spanish Fork. She also has 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Joe, parents, and two brothers,
The family expresses thanks to the staff and friends at the Abbington Senior Living, the staff at the Springville Stonehenge, and the staff from Encompass Hospice.
