Janice Clyde Lurtsema

We regretfully announce the passing of Janice Clyde Lurtsema, 76, who passed away surrounded by her loved ones on September 5, 2022. Janice had a difficult battle with cancer and is finally at rest. She will be forever loved and forever remembered.

Janice was predeceased by her husband Harold “Hank” Lurtsema, parents Willis and Lora Clyde, sister Drew, and brothers Alex, Marvis, and Calvin.

Janice is survived by her brother Niel and Connie Clyde, and children Gary and Lisa Christensen, Chad and Alex Christensen, and Shawn and Janet Christensen. She has 19 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Janice was born June 19, 1946. She enjoyed her hometown of Heber City, Utah, and spent much of her time camping and exploring the mountains. She lived on the same block her entire life and she worked at Chick’s Cafe, the Wagon Wheel Cafe, and the Hub Cafe for many years. She was friends with locals and travelers alike, and enjoyed socializing with the community.

The family wants to thank Melanie, Nikki and Melissa from Ability Healthcare for their love and support during her last days.

A viewing will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Heber Valley Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City Utah, and again on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM with Funeral Services to follow at 11:00 AM at the LDS Meetinghouse, 325 East 500 North, Heber City, Utah. She will be laid to rest next her husband at the Heber City Cemetery, 680 North 550 East, Heber City, Utah.
