Janet Lorraine Raby

October 3, 1936 — September 2, 2025

Janet Lorraine Raby, 88, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on September 2, 2025, in the comfort of her home in Wallsburg, Utah. Born on October 3, 1936, in Salt Lake City to Robert R. and Edna Crandall Park, Janet lived a life defined by devotion to her family, her faith, and the many people she blessed with her love and talents.

On August 25, 1955, she married the love of her life, Robert D. Raby, in Memory Grove, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, a sacred commitment that became the foundation of their enduring love and partnership. Together they shared many adventures, including two years stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, while Robert served in the U.S. Army.

Janet’s gifts were many. A talented musician, she played the steel guitar as a girl at many competitions, programs, and even on local television. She poured her creativity into organizing church activities: road shows, Gold and Green Balls, and countless celebrations (at which she forced her children to dance). She was a wonderful cook and made meals that drew family and friends together and created many wonderful memories.

She adored the red rock of southern Utah and loved making her front yard bloom like an English garden, with flowers in abundance. She also had a lifelong love of animals, especially dogs and horses. Whether it was a pup underfoot or a horse to care for, they were always part of her world. In addition, for many years, Janet ran a successful cleaning business in Park City and surrounding towns, showing the same hard work and determination she brought to everything in her life.

But most of all, Janet loved her family. Her happiest moments were when everyone was together: whether it was having the grandkids dress up and perform a play on the front lawn or taking everyone on a picnic up the canyon. She chose togetherness over comfort. Whenever the family went anywhere, she insisted that everyone squeeze into the front seat of the truck: kids on the floor, people sitting on laps with heads pressed against the windshield, and always a dog or two in the mix. It was crowded and usually a little miserable, but that didn’t matter. For her, being shoulder-to-shoulder with the people she loved was the whole point. She drew strength from having everyone together with her.

She is now joyfully reunited with her beloved Robert, whom she missed every day, and is survived by their four children: David (Shauna), Michael (Leslie), Janene (Greg), and Jennifer (Adrian). She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and togetherness that lives on in her 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, her brother Robert C. Park, and her sister Linda Mast.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 12:30 pm. at the LDS Chapel in Wallsburg, Utah, with a viewing from 11:00 a.m. to noon, prior to the service.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all those who helped Janet in her year without Robert: from caregivers to church members to neighbors, family, and friends. They also wish to thank all those who have shared condolences and invite friends and loved ones to gather in celebration of Janet’s remarkable life.
