JaLaine Childs Hicken passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, in Monroe, Utah. Born on December 30, 1941, in American Fork, Utah, she was the daughter of C. Raymond and Gladys Shelley Childs. She was united in marriage to Don Lynn Hicken on June 18, 1964, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
JaLaine found immense joy in creating a warm and loving home for her family. She cherished simple moments spent with loved ones—sharing stories around the dinner table, watching a favorite movie, or simply enjoying the peace and quiet of her home—nurturing them and creating a haven of comfort and love.
JaLaine was known for her generous spirit and kind heart. Her compassion touched many, and she will be deeply missed. She will be remembered for her laughter, playful spirit, and a knack for good-natured pranks that kept her family and friends constantly entertained and on guard. She embraced life with a joyful heart and a mischievous twinkle in her eye, creating countless cherished memories filled with laughter and love.
JaLaine had a quiet but firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and dedicated much of her time to faithful service within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She willingly embraced numerous callings, magnifying each opportunity with love and devotion. Her service touched many lives, and her legacy will be fondly remembered by fellow ward members and those with whom she served.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn Hicken; children, Charlotte (Monte) Meacham, MeLynda (Ronald) Van Otten, Scott (Kim) Hicken, Marjorie Hicken, and Bruce (Jane) Hicken; grandchildren, Morgan, Benjamin, Joshua, Dallin, Brandon, Kayla, Jordan, Andrew, Jackie, Joseph, Maysen, Hailey, Hannah, Lucas, and Cash; brother, Douglas (Theresa) Childs; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
JaLaine was reunited in passing with her parents, Raymond and Gladys Childs; her sister, Carolyn Childs; and her beloved grandsons, Alex and Porter Hicken.
Funeral services will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the Heber Valley Funeral Home, located at 288 North Main Street, Heber City, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Heber City Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Monroe Canyon Assisted Living for their tender care of JaLaine during the past year.
