Jack Evans Dahl died peacefully on July 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. After struggling for several years with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease), Jack passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father. Jack was born in Raymond, Alberta, Canada on December 7, 1932. As a youth, Jack loved sports and excelled in basketball and boxing. On November 17, 1954 he was married to his long-time sweetheart June Evelyn Dahl and they were married more than 62 years. Jack is survived by his wife, June, and his six sons and their wives: Stephen and Margaret, Devar and Lori, Bruce and Becky, Phil and Janelle, Reagan and Denise, and Barry and Elizabeth; as well as his thirty-two grandchildren and forty-five great-grandchildren (3 deceased) with three on the way. Jack is brother to Max (deceased), Marie (Reed Zemp, deceased), Bernice (Don Baker, deceased), Larry (Roberta), and Carol (Sam Baker). Jack was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who found much joy in being with his family. He lived a life of service. Jack served in many capacities in the LDS church, including serving a full-time mission in South Africa, about 14 years as a bishop or counselor, 14 years as a stake president in Louisville, KY or counselor, and as a Patriarch for many years. Jack graduated from the University of Utah, and spent most of his career as an accountant and a corporate executive. Jack’s life was an example of kindness, love, service, and faithfulness to all. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
