Helen Van Wagoner

April 26, 1931 — June 28, 2021

Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend Helen Van Wagoner passed away peacefully on June 28, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born on April 26, 1931 in Heber City, Utah to William A. and Lavora Mair. She married her sweetheart Joseph A. Van Wagoner on September 1, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo, Utah Temple.

Helen had many talents and abilities. She loved playing the piano, spending time in her garden, canning the fruits of her labor, quilting many beautiful quilts and baby blankets, giving one to each grandchild and great grandchild. Most importantly, Helen was known for her delicious rolls, bread, carrot pudding, and pies. She loved to sew and would make many of our school clothes, as well as Levi’s for my brothers. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. She had a unique gift of making everyone feel welcome and loved. To know her, was to love her.

Helen was a woman of unwavering faith and never-ending service. She unselfishly served her family, friends, neighbors, strangers, and her God. Service, love, and compassion came naturally to Helen.

We will miss her, but our faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ gives us comfort and hope for a joyful and glorious reunion with her and our loved ones. Until we meet again.

Helen is survived by her children; Patrick R. (Annette) Van Wagoner of Payson, UT, Scott M. Van Wagoner of Daniel, UT, Joan (Jeff) Van Wagoner Winterton of Heber UT, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph A. Van Wagoner, parents; William A. and Lavora Mair, son; William J. Van Wagoner, great grandson; Clinton Douglas Youngreen, sister; Shirley Davis, Brother-in-law; Barton W. Davis.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 12:00pm in the Heber Fourth Ward Chapel, 240 East 400 South, Heber City, UT, with a viewing prior from 10:00am to 11:45am. Interment to follow in the Heber City Cemetery under the direction of Heber Valley Funeral Home.

We wish to thank all medical personnel who participated in Helen’s care, and wish to especially thank all hospice services provided by IHC Home Care and Hospice.

A special thanks to Kraig and Logan Winterton for their love, support, and hospice care they provided for their grandma.
