Gretchen Magdalene Remund, born Klauss, age 89, passed away in her home with her husband, daughter, and granddaughter by her side on January 7, 2021, in Midway, UT.
She was born November 17, 1931, in Leonberg, Germany.
After moving to the U.S., she maintained communication with friends and family in Germany through regular phone calls and letters until the end of her life.
She had many happy memories of times spent together with all her grandchildren. She absolutely loved to kick their butts playing games like “Mensch, Ärgere Dich Nicht!” and “Uno”. Her motto was: you earn your wins. She and her husband, daughter, and grandchildren enjoyed numerous trips to state and national parks across the West.
As tiny as she was, Gretchen put a force on her bowling ball, getting strike after strike! She was an accomplished bowler and loved her bowling pals.
She worked tirelessly to create a beautiful home. In the warm months, you could find her somewhere outside, caring for her roses and many other flowers, or weeding her big vegetable garden and berry patch.
Gretchen was a master in the kitchen, above all, her German specialties. Everyone will miss her potato salad, her homemade jams with fruit from her garden, and her crispy pancakes!
Gretchen is survived by her husband, Johnny, her older sister, Lilo, her daughter and her spouse, Cornelia and Gerd, and her grandchildren, Rolf, Jens, Sonja, Petra, and Andreas; the extended loving Remund family; many friends; and her cat, Snoopy.
Graveside services will be held in Midway on January 11 at 1pm.
