Grant Lindsay

Grant Lindsay was born June 27, 1928, in Heber City Utah to Thomas Payne and Lovina Bunnell Lindsay. He passed away June 7, 2022, in his home in Fruitland Utah surrounded by his family.
Grant was the youngest of ten children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Hal, Wallace, Vern, and Tommy his sisters Eldga, Edith, Thelma, and Dora. Grant is survived by his loving wife Audrey, his six children, Randy (Trudy) Lindsay of Rossville, GA., Vernor Lindsay of Benjamin, UT., Kathy (Gregg) Nielson of Benjamin, UT., Dru Lindsay of Fruitland, UT. Leisa (Lew) Giles of Heber City, UT., and Julie (Van) Hewitt of Fruitland, UT. He has 22 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Grant was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather.
Married Audrey Baird on February 21, 1954. They were sealed in the Vernal Temple on July 20, 2002. He served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the first in Paducah, Texas, the last two in Nauvoo, IL. as a teamster and also was a temple worker in the Vernal Temple for five years. He served in the Korean War from 1950-1952.
Dad was a hard worker, he worked from a young age of six for Ray and George Giles driving the team and tromping hay for .25 cents a day. When he was 15, he worked at the Tooele Army Depot for two years. As an adult he worked at the United Park City Mine for many years, then went to work at the Nevada Test Site for five years. He worked on the pipeline that runs down Provo canyon, he said you can drive a small truck down that pipeline. Dad was the Forman for the world’s largest quarter horse ranch which was located in Alturas, California. One of dad’s favorite things he did was herding sheep and he often said he would love to get a sheep herd and go back on the mountain and herd.
In his spare time, he made chaps, bridles and saddle bags, he enjoyed working with leather. He ran cattle, horses and sheep, had a real love of horses, animals and the mountains. He was a master Storyteller, loved fly fishing and tying his own flies, he enjoyed spending time in the mountains with his family horseback riding, camping and fishing.
Funeral services will be held June 11, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the Cobblestone Church at 1661 E. 980 S. in Heber City UT. A viewing will be held Friday June 10, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and from 9:00-10:30 prior to the services on Saturday. Interment at the Heber City Cemetery by way of team and wagon.
