Glenna M Lloyd

Glenna Mahoney Lloyd, 99, passed away peacefully at her home in Charleston, Utah, on September 25, 2026.

Glenna was born August 16, 1927, in Heber City, Utah, the youngest child of Louris Mahoney and Mary Crook Mahoney. She grew up on the big family farm in Lake Creek, where she rode horses, herded the cows and did whatever her dad asked of her, because you didn’t say no to her dad. She attended Central School in Heber and graduated from Wasatch High School in 1945, in a class of just 20 students. She also graduated from seminary and was chosen to speak at her seminary graduation.

After high school, Glenna lived with her sister in Salt Lake City, graduated from LDS Business College and went to work for New York Life Insurance. She and her sister joined the Wasatch Mountain Club in Brighton, where she learned to ski. She began dating Joseph Earl Lloyd, and they were married on October 8, 1948, and made their home in Midway. They welcomed Ross in 1950, Mark in 1952 and Kelly in 1955.

In 1955, Joe was in an accident that severely damaged his leg, and he spent eight months in the old Heber hospital. During that time, Glenna and the children lived with her parents. Eventually Joe had to have his leg amputated, and his long recovery included time in a full body cast. Leanne was born in 1957, in the middle of it all.

Once Joe had recovered, the family went back to work. They built a dam at Browning Lake, where Glenna ran the camp, and then the dam at Mill Hollow Reservoir. The family lived in a trailer on site, and the kids loved it for the fishing and the outdoors. Kristine was born in 1961, and the family moved into their home in Charleston. While the boys were still in high school, they worked on the equipment and helped build many of the ski runs in Park City. Joe passed away in 1982.

A true entrepreneur, Glenna was part owner of Lloyd Brothers Construction, where she worked alongside her three sons, and later part owner of Mountain Valley Construction, from which she retired.

After all her children were married, Glenna learned to golf. Golf gave her a great hobby and many great friends. Those friends talked her into a trip to Hawaii, and from there she just kept going. She spent her 78th birthday in Paris and the next year cruised Europe, visiting Spain and Italy. Her travels also took her to Asia, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Tahiti, Mexico and Alaska, and she loved seeing different cultures. Her favorite place was Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, where she spent January and February for many years. For more than 15 years, she kept score for the senior golf tour on the Big Island.

Glenna was proudest of her family. She tried her best to be involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Each year she hosted a big family Christmas party, where everyone gathered and had a wonderful time, and those parties created memories her family will always treasure. She was loved by all who knew her.

Glenna is survived by her children Mark (Phyllis), Kelly (Beverly) and Kristine (Dan); daughter-in-law Sherry; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louris and Mary; her husband, Joe; her children Ross and Leann; son-in-law James; and her siblings Grant, Dale, Neil and Afton.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Midway Cemetery in Midway, Utah.
