Our sister, niece, aunt and friend, Geraldine (Geri) Dahl, age 61, passed away February 28, 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born February 22, 1959 in the 2791sr USAF Hospital, Hill Air Force Base, Davis County Utah to James and Della Dahl. She was the oldest and big sister to two younger brothers. She was the favorite aunt and a best friend to all. She freely gave of her time to help others especially her father during the last few years of his life.
As her father was in the United States Air Force, Geri was an Air Force Brat, having lived on numerous Air Bases in Utah, Texas, California, Idaho and Nevada. She could have had the opportunity to live on bases in foreign countries, but her mother would not fly, and would stay in Heber City, Utah with each overseas assignment, especially while her dad served several tours of duty in Vietnam. After her father retired, they returned to Heber where she was a 1978 graduate of Wasatch High School.
After graduation, Geri worked a few positions including: housekeeping, chef, store clerk and deli worker. She especially liked working in the Lee’s Market Deli. That gave her the opportunity to keep in touch with a lot of her friends and to serve the customers of Heber Valley.
If you asked Geri what she would be doing for the weekend, she would probably say I’d be crocheting or doing needle point. She was always making something and giving her projects away. She would crochet dresses for dolls and lately she would make hot oven pads. She was always accused of holding the crochet hook wrong, but she was the fastest crochetier. Her needle point work was detailed and she made many pillow cases. She also likes reading, listening to audiobooks and being with her friends and family during the different holidays throughout the year.
Geri was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She did not have the opportunity to marry and have children of her own, but she is survived by two nieces, 3 nephews and 5 great-nephew’s which she considered her own and spoiled as much as she could. She is also survived by her two brothers James (Kaye) Dahl of Heber City and Roger Dahl of Twin Falls Idaho. She was predeceased by her parents.
There will be a viewing from 9:00 am to 10:30 am on Saturday, March 7 preceding the funeral services which will be held at 11:00 am at the Heber 5th Ward Meetinghouse, 150 North 200 West, Heber City, and the interment at the Midway City Cemetery immediately following.
