Gerald (Jake) Thompson, 78, of Wallsburg Utah was born on November 16, 1937 in Park City, Utah to Sarah Sessions and Charles Harvey Thompson. He passed away December 1st, 2015 peacefully in his home surrounded by family.
Jake was born and raised in Deer Valley, which was a place he held close to his heart throughout his life. For 30 years of his life he worked hard for Geneva Steel in the rolling mills. After closure he worked various jobs and retired from Wasatch County Public works. Married his sweetheart of 60 years, Yvonne Sabey, on May 28, 1955 at the tender age of 17. After their marriage they made their home in Wallsburg. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on July 14, 1982.
Jake enjoyed all things outdoors. You could find him fishing, hunting, camping, or keeping busy around the house. He was an active member of the LDS church serving in many capacities. Jake was a compassionate and loving man who devoted all he did to his family who he loved beyond measure.
Jake is survived by his wife Yvonne Sabey Thompson, his three daughters Brenda (Allan) Richins, Jill (Roger) Ford, Lynda Thompson and his son Troy (Lil) Thompson, fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, a step father, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Wallsburg LDS Chapel, 494 W Main Canyon RD, Wallsburg, Utah. Viewings will be held on Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and on Monday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM prior to the services, both at the LDS Church. Interment will follow the services in the Wallsburg Cemetery.
