Geniel Bartholomew

June 6, 1934 — December 8, 2024

Geniel Bartholomew, 90, of Midway, Utah, passed away on December 8, 2024. Geniel lived a long life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Geniel was born in Midway, Utah, on June 6, 1934, to Eliza Elizabeth Beck and Nephi Probst. She attended Wasatch High School and later married and had four children: Rosemary, Wayne, Timothy, and Charlotte. She was later divorced.
On October 11, 1974, Geniel married the love of her life, Edwin Bartholomew. They were later sealed in the Provo Utah Temple. They served a mission together for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-‐Day Saints in Nauvoo, Illinois. They were married for 26 years when Ed passed away.
Geniel was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. She was always there to listen, provide service, and care to everyone she came in contact with.
Geniel was a great cook and always made room for more at her kitchen table…and then sent them home with food as well. She was an excellent baker and spent many years making bread and bratzelis for Swiss Days.
Geniel was an avid gardener and loved growing a large vegetable garden and beautiful flowers in her yard. She had beautiful gardens as beautiful as she was. Her immaculate, beautiful yard reflected her traits of diligence and hard work. She worked very hard throughout her life and was an example of love and kindness to all who crossed her path.
Geniel is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed; her daughter, Charlotte Zufelt; her son Timothy Zufelt; her parents, Nephi and Beth Probst; and her 5 siblings, (Verle Young, Grant Probst, Faye Bates, Boyd Probst, Emery Probst, and Evan Probst).
She is survived by her two children, Rosemary Beattie, and Wayne Zufelt; her 3 siblings (Paul Probst, Kyle Probst, and Janice Hansen); 15 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
A funeral will be held to honor and celebrate Geniel’s life at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 12, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1105 South Center Street, Midway, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 AM.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Heber Valley Assisted Living, the Hospice care team, and to all of those who have provided love, friendship, and comfort over the past few years.
