Our beloved husband, dad and grandpa, Gary M. Coleman, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2015 at his home in Midway.
Gary was born August 31, 1936 in Heber City to Afton Moulton Coleman and later sealed to Randall Schear. He attended schools in Wasatch County and graduated in landscape architecture from Utah State University. While at USU he met Carol Ritchie, who actually grew up down the road in Charleston. They were married June 20, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Gary served his country in the US Army. His first career was with the US Forest Service where he worked for 26 years. After retirement, he was a successful real estate broker in the valley.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many callings: bishop, counselor in stake presidency, senior missionary and his favorite calling was teaching the 8-year olds in Primary.
He was happiest while serving others or working on a project. His last really good day was spent with friends and loved ones under the tree at Swiss Days.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Carol; children Veralynn (Slone) Porter; Colleen (Steve) Bonner; Susan (Shane) Cummings; Clay (Lisa) Coleman; Karen (Tyler) Bingham; Michelle Coleman; and Clint (Tiffany) Coleman; sisters Joan Johnston, Georgia Costello and Susan Treadwell; 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by son, Chad Ritchie Coleman and his parents.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Tara Snow with Encompass Home Health & Hospice and all of our loving friends and family.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 26 at 11:00 am at the Midway LDS Stake Center, 165 N Center Street. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 25 from 5:30 – 8:00 pm and 9:00 – 10:30 am prior to the service at the same location. Interment will follow at the Charleston Cemetery.
