Francis Russell Spencer passed away peacefully at the age of 84, surrounded by his children. He was born on February 05, 1931 in Circleville, Utah to Samuel Rulon Spencer and Pearl Dalton Morgan Spencer.
Francis met his sweetheart, Carol Ann Reid, at a dance and was smitten. He gave her an engagement ring for Christmas 1956. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 26, 1957. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities over the years. Francis spent his life in the service of others, always putting his family first.
On May 13, 1949 he received the first scholarship given by Piute High to attend the University of Utah where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from the University of Utah and later received a Bachelor of Police Science from Weber State. He retired from the Utah Highway Patrol in 1990 after 31 years of public service.
Francis is survived by his sister, Alma Montague (Cecil, deceased), his son Rhett (Erin) Spencer, his daughter Charice (Steve) Moulton, his son Zachary Spencer, his daughter Candyce Meriwether, 14 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Ann, his parents Samuel Rulon Spencer and Pearl Dalton Morgan Spencer, and his daughter Stephanie Spencer and his brother in law Cecil Montague.
The family wishes to thank Applegate Home Care and Hospice and the Huntsman Cancer Institute for the loving service they provided for our sweet father.
A viewing will be held July 27, 2015 from 6-8:00 pm at the Probst Funeral Home located at 79 East Main St. in Midway, Utah. There will also be a viewing from 9:30-10:30 am July 28th at the Fox Den Ward, located at 250 East 200 South in Midway. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am.
Internment will be at the Midway Cemetery following the funeral services.
