Francis D. Harrison Sr.
On October 27, 2025, our wonderful father, grandfather, and friend was reunited with his eternal companion whom he has sorely missed. Dad was born November 26, 1937 to Walter F. and Lavada T. Harrison in Heber City, Utah.
Dad had fond memories of his childhood in Heber. He often told of his first car that his father helped him paint with a paintbrush. It was painted red and yellow. He later realized that it was “one of a kind”, and his parents knew everywhere he had been from neighbors sightings of the car. As a teenager, dad chose to get a mohawk haircut. It was the only time his dad offered to pay him to stay home from church.
During his senior year at high school, Dad dated his sweetheart, Nyda Martinez. They were engaged on Valentine’s Day 1956 and were married July 14th of that year. Their union was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Dad loved his wife and family and was diligent in doing whatever it took to provide for his family both temporally and spiritually. As a young father, he worked full time at the national guard. He later worked many years as an accountant at the mines in Park City, and finished his career working 27 years as office manager for Day’s Markets in Heber. Side jobs included secretary of the Heber City planning commission and secretary of the Heber Valley Special Service District. He loved working and the people he worked with. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he had many callings including Stake Clerk, Elders Quorum President, and Church Service Missionary at the Bishops Storehouse.
Vacation was a great break from work. Dad enjoyed trips with Mom to Yellowstone, Louisiana (to visit his sister), and cruising. He visited many places on a cruise ship including Hawaii, Alaska, Panama Canal, the Caribbean, and Columbia.
He will be missed by all who knew him!
He is survived by his children, John (Tammy) Harrison, Francis Harrison Jr., Penny “PJ” Hair (Lance Owens), Sally (Greg) Martinez; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Mary (Kenneth) LeBlanc. He is predeceased by his wife, Nyda; his parents; daughter Shelly (Allen) Luke; son, Lee Harrison and brothers, Kay and John Harrison.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 3rd, at 11 am. Viewing will be held just prior to the funeral from 9 to 10:30 am. Chapel is located at 1365 E Center Street, Heber, UT. Internment will follow at the Heber City Cemetery.
