Forrest Long, age 70, died on Sunday August 7th in Fruitland, Utah. He was born on February 4th, 1952 in Boulder City, NV to Charles Ray Long and Shirlee Gleason Long. He married Ray Dean Shields on July 17, 1986.
He served 21 honorable years in the Navy. He enjoyed shooting, collecting spent rounds and aluminum cans. He was a Navy certified scuba diver, a welder for 40 years and reached out with a willing hand to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Ray Dean Long, his 4 biological children Shirlee Cappponcelli (Scott), Huntington, MA, Aubri Nichols (Paul), Heber City, UT, Frosty Long, Kearns, UT and Nolan Long, West Valley, UT, his step daughter Margaret Foster, Payson, AZ, his step son Phillip Schmidt (Mary Grace), Las Vegas, NV, 8 grandchildren by family, 6 grandchildren by marriage, 6 grandchildren by love, and 2 great grandchildren by marriage, his mother Shirlee Gleason Long, Orem, UT, brother Bruce Long, Blue Diamond, NV, Charlotte Woolsey, (Ken), Washington, UT, Kristen Osterbaan (Ron), Coos Bay, OR, Dave Long, Pahrump, NV, Jeanette Schlarb, (Ruel), Madras, OR, Jeff Long (Elena), Las Vegas, NV and Janey Nelson (David), Orem, UT.
He is preceded in death by his father Charles Ray Long, his sister Bonnie Ruff and his brother Terry Long.
The funeral services will be on Friday August 12th at the 8th Ward Chapel at 650 South and West Southfield Road. The viewing will be from 11am to 1pm. The graveside services will be from 1:30pm to 2:30pm at the Heber City Cemetery. The luncheon will be held directly after at the Southfield Chapel. All those who wish are welcome to attend
