Florine Merrell Whiting

Surrounded by her family, Florine Merrell Whiting, 96, a longtime resident of Heber City, passed away July 14, 2017 in Layton, Utah. Florine was born in Virden, NM on March 8, 1921 to Vern Clark and Katheryn Mortensen Merrell. She married Rex Albert Whiting on April 1, 1942 in the Mesa Temple. She loved her family, church, and community. She was involved in DUP, Arts Council, design of the Wasatch County Barn Quilt, painting, and music.

Florine is survived by her children, Carol Torbensen (Jerry); Kirk Whiting (Kaylin); Anne Richardson (James); Kay Harrison (Lex); 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Florine is preceded in death by her husband Rex, granddaughter Naquel Anne Harrison and great granddaughter Angela Faith Torbensen.

Friends and family are invited to a viewing at the Heber Valley Funeral Home, 288 N main, Wednesday, July 19, from 6:30 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Heber City LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 325 E 500 N, Heber City. A short viewing from 10 to 10:30 am will precede the funeral at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at the Heber Cemetery.
