Eva Slaughter Sleight, age 80, died surrounded by her family and love on January 13, 2022, at her home in Heber City, Utah. Eva was born on October 9, 1941, in Caliente, Nevada to Frank Madison Slaughter and Martha Elizabeth Durtschi. Eva grew up in Midway, Utah. She married Jack Young November 7, 1958. They had 5 children and later divorced. She then married William (Bill) Sleight. Eva enjoyed many things. Among them were quilting, crocheting, reading, watching sports, especially a good Wyoming Cowboys football game. Go Pokes! She was an excellent seamstress and sewed many articles of clothing for her children and grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her family as a Crumbl Cookie lover and for having chocolate stashed in every corner of her home! Eva loved her Savior and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions in the church over the years and she loved serving recently in the library. Her absolute favorite calling was being a Sunbeam teacher. Those sweet spirits could make her smile. Eva was also proud to have served a mission with Bill in the Illinois Chicago Mission from December 2001 to November 2003.
Eva is survived by her children Carolyn (David) Darlington (Rock Springs, WY), Frank (Wendy) Young (Lyman, WY), Patrica (Matt) Eardley (Mountain View, WY), Charlie (Barbara) Young (Lyman,WY), Gordon (Leaca) Young (Cantwell, AK), Stepchildren Frances (Don) Young (St. George, UT) and Ruth (Raymond) Sweat (Heber City, UT), 18 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, sister Barbara Ellen, and 2 granddaughters.
A huge thank you to the family, nurses, friends, neighbors, health care workers, Meals-on-Wheels, ward members, and others who made it possible for her to live so long in the place she loved. It really does take a village. Our hearts are full with gratitude and love for all of you.
