On the afternoon of Monday, November 2, 2020 beloved wife, mother, Nanny, Great Nan and Cherished friend, Happy Turner slipped peacefully and quietly from this side of the veil into the waiting arms of loved ones met to welcome her home. However joyous this reception, her parting leaves here an array of lives she so effortlessly blessed. Happy’s personal knowledge of our Father’s teachings and unwavering dedication to them serves to soften our loss somewhat. In addition, Happy leaves each of us a collection of radiant, cherished memories of lovingly crafted holiday dinners amid lingering essences of ham, roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, Trifle, rum (“strictly imitation,” we were told”) sauce and the aroma of fresh-baked cookies and cakes, all mingling in a delicious, magnificent tradition and images of “Happiness”
Born August 1, 1927 in Liverpool, England to James and Josephine Mannouch, fourth of their seven children, her given name of Ethel Alice seems not quite to have “Stuck.” Instead she became known at an early age as “Happy,” a name and description which endures. Happy’s recall and tales of her childhood despite the “Great Depression” and trials of World War II were always positive, often humorous but invariably an inspiration-including the account of how she met, dated, came to love and adore an American soldier hailing from small town Heber in a place called Utah. Benjamin Turner, a true Soldier also proved Happy’s friend, confidant, teacher, eternal companion, champion and travel buddy. Together Ben and Happy were a formidable, unified force who confronted and overcame life challenges, quietly living as Christ would, establishing successful businesses and raising a family of three including daughter, JoAnne (husband, Dave Summers), sons John Michael (wife Kathleen) and Wayne B. (wife Leighann). Preceded in passing by a grandson, Happy is dearly loved by her six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, all of who will miss and look forward to reuniting with her as family. Following a small family celebration at the Heber Valley Funeral Home of her rich life Saturday November 14, 2020, Happy was interred at the Heber City Cemetery.
