Ernest Jay Niederhauser

Ernest Niederhauser, lovingly known as Jay, embarked on his final adventure on August 8, 2023, at the age of 88, in his beloved Midway, Utah. Born on May 3, 1935, he lived life to the fullest, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and cherished memories.

Jay was the life of the party, always ready to inject some fun into any situation. With his outgoing nature and generous spirit, he was the go-to person for a good time. He had a knack for making people smile and possessed a selfless heart that touched the lives of everyone he encountered.

Jay spent his life as a manufacturer’s representative for some of the most well known brands in the golf, ski and soft goods industry. He spent his retirement innkeeping at The Blue Boar Inn & Restaurant. With his warm hospitality and infectious laughter, he made each guest feel like a VIP. It's safe to say he knew how to make people feel right at home.

When Jay wasn't working, you could find him fully devoted to his beloved late wife Sandra, their bond as strong as a bear hug. She was the "Sandy" to his beach, the "click" to his camera. They were inseparable, creating memories that would make even the Romantics swoon. They were the ultimate couple.

In his free time, Jay enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He loved casting his fishing line, conquering mountain trails with Sandy, and capturing the perfect shot with his camera. Jay also had a sharp eye for shooting, whether it be targets or friendly banter with his loved ones. His jokes always hit the bull’s-eye!

Jay leaves behind a trail of laughter and love. He is survived by his adoring daughter, Cassy Singer; his vivacious sister, Linda Carter; his fun-loving granddaughter, Bailey Singer; his mischievous grandson, Elijah Singer, and a whole bunch of nieces and nephews who were lucky enough to receive his playful wisdom.

As Jay sets sail on his next grand escapade, let us honor his cheeky wit, his insatiable thirst for adventure, and his incredible ability to transform even the dreariest of moments into a wild circus of laughter. Rest easy, dear Jay. You've tumbled through our hearts and sparked an eternal bonfire of smiles and memories. May your puns echo forever in the halls of mischief!

Details for Jay's ultimate celebration will be released upon a thief's whisper in the dark. In lieu of floral tributes, Jay's motley crew suggests contributing to The National Forest Foundation or the Humane Society. The paw prints and leafy tales left behind will forever hold a special place in Jay's heart.
