Erma Cox Nielsen

Erma Cox Nielsen (1926-2016) peacefully passed away on February 21, 2016 surrounded by loved ones.

She was a loving mother of five and devoted grandmother to her 30 grandchildren.

She was born on March 31, 1926 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Edward Bunker and Lucile Caldwell Cox. She enjoyed a happy childhood with three younger brothers (Edward, John and Kenyon), most of which was spent in Auburn, California. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of California at Berkeley where she met and married Dale Edwin Nielsen, Sr. on June 18, 1947. They spent over fifty years living in Livermore, California. They were married for 62 years before he passed away in January 2009.

Dale and Erma were blessed with five children; Dale (Cynthia), Peter (Barbru), Chris (Kristina), Paul (Connie) and Carol (John Probst).

Erma was a faithful and devoted lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings and loved working in the Oakland temple with Dale for many years. Erma and Dale were great examples to their posterity by serving an LDS mission to Bristol England.

Erma is survived by all 5 of her children, their spouses, 29 of 30 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren, with 4 on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her three brothers.

A special thanks to the nurses and staff at St. Joseph Villa in Salt Lake City, Utah for their care of Mom for the past year and a half.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 11:00 am, at the Midway Utah Stake Center 165 N Center Street, Midway, Utah. There will be a viewing prior to services from 9:30-10:30am. There will also be a viewing the night before at Probst Family Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm., 79 E Main Street, Midway, UT. Condolences maybe shared online at www.probstfamilyfunerals.com
