Elizabeth Joan Vance Murdock, daughter of Anna Melissa Farnsworth and Robert Edward Vance, was born on December 3, 1933 in a log cabin at a little lumber camp in the Sierra Madre mountains of old Mexico. The place was called Ojo Taraceño in the state of Chihuahua. Our fountain of joy went home to paradise on December 22nd, 2015.
Mexico’s revolutionary upheaval caused the family to move to Mesa, AZ when she was 7 years old and she graduated from Mesa High School. Through hard work she graduated from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Phoenix, AZ. Her life’s work was serving others. She used her nursing skills throughout her life and volunteered her time to all good causes. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served many callings.
She met Vernon LeRoy Murdock when both were attending Brigham Young University. They were married August 20th, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. Her joy in life was her family. She will be sorely missed by those she left behind.
She is survived by her sister, Rita Wagner; her stepbrothers, Leland, John, Ron and Leroy Walser; her stepsisters, Elna-Rae Pace, Anna-Marie Rubio; her sisters-in-law, Helen and Thelma Vance; her children, Eric, Shaun, Amy, and Alisa; her grandchildren, Matthew, Javier, Taylor, Landon, Justice, Brittany, McKelle, Hayden, Aubrey, and Kylee; and her great-grandchildren, Bruce-Wayne and Grant. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her step-father, Floyd Walser; her brothers Bob, Cal, Reed and Larry; and her sister Anna Collins.
A memorial service will be held at the Heber City Utah 4th Ward (715 E. 600 S.) on Monday, December 28th at 12:00 pm. Friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00 am. Burial services will be held at the Heber Cemetery.
