Elaine Egan

June 13, 1929 — December 17, 2016

Elaine was born on June 13, 1929 in Jackson Heights, NY, the second child to her parents Emil Roberts and Bertha Kostelak. She had a sister, Dorothy who was born 14 months prior, and they remained close throughout their lives. She grew up in Elmhurst, NY and attended Public School 89, and then Newtown High School. She graduated in 1947 from the commercial program and began working for New York Life Insurance Company where she remained until 1959.

She enjoyed ballroom dancing, including ballroom dancing on ice skates and roller skates. She spent many summers at the beaches of New York. She met her husband Richard Egan at a ballroom dance in Manhattan. Although she did hide from him when a tango contest was announced, she did reappear afterwards and their courtship began. They were married in October of 1959 in Phoenix, Arizona. They later returned to New York moving back to Elmhurst. She spent 18 years as a full time homemaker. She then worked as a file clerk for Morse/Diesel, Inc. until she retired in 1992. They moved to Utah in 2001, to join their daughter's family, and she never tired of looking at the mountains, enjoying fall foliage drives and watching the sun rise and set. They lived happily together for 46 years, until he passed away in 2005 from Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's, caring for him at home.

She enjoyed the theatre, attending many Broadway plays during her life in New York. She loved trying new restaurants, enjoying foods from all cultures. She enjoyed cooking, making holidays special.

She passed away the morning of December 17, 2016 at Elk Meadows Assisted Living Facility in Oakley, Utah, having lived a full life.
