Edwin Clegg

November 26, 1929 — April 7, 2018

Ed Clegg passed peacefully from this world with his family surrounding him on April 7, 2018. Ed was born to Ervan and Ethel Clegg on November 26, 1929 in Tabiona, Utah. Ed spent his younger years in “Tabby” where he attended both grade school and high school. He married Veva Miles on April 22, 1949. Together they had five children; Sammy, Veva Jean, Donna Lee, Michael Edwin, and Linda May. They have twelve grand children, twenty six great grand children, and two great-great grand children.

Ed was a faithful and active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in the bishopric and later as bishop of the of the Spring Valley 1st Ward for 11 years. Ed was known for his kindness and generosity while serving the members of his church. Ed helped finance countless missionaries and served selflessly throughout his life.

Ed learned from his father the trade of home building and was able to grow a thriving construction company in southern California. He built many custom homes, apartments, and duplexes in the San Diego area. He was able to provide well for his family and continuously gave to others generously.

Ed had a great love for life and his passions included fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling and time spent with his family. He has fished from the tip of Baja to Alaska and every fishing spot in-between. Ed loved to return to Utah every year for the deer hunt.

He is preceded in death by his son Sammy Clegg, his parents Ervan Clegg and Ethel May Ivie, his siblings, Ervan Leland Clegg, Dionne Rhoades, Lois Crocker and Leone Brown. He is survived by his Wife Veva Miles, His Children Veva (Frank) Thing, Donna (Shane) McNew, Mike (Robin) Clegg, Linda (Troy) Keach as well as many grand children, great grand children, and great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 11 at 1:00pm at the Granite Hills Ward LDS Chapel Located at 1701 Granite Hills Drive, El Cajon. Saturday, April 14th12:00pm in Altamont, Utah LDS Chapel. 15600 west 4000 north, Altamont, Utah. Viewings to be held one hour prior at both locations.
