Douglas D Thacker, born to Floyd and Odessa Thacker on March 10, 1951, returned to his heavenly home on July 26, 2024, after many years of health challenges. Growing up in Heber City and a graduate of Wasatch High School, Doug enjoyed playing running back for the football team, being on the track team and playing the trumpet in the marching band. He served in the Guatemala/El Salvador mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Dixie College with an associate’s degree and there he met the love of his life, Jacquie. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo Utah Temple on July 14, 1972.
As a devoted husband and father to 8 children, 7 daughters and 1 son, Doug served in many church callings, including Scout Master, Councilor in the Bishopric, Elder’s Quorum Presidency and as a temple worker with his wife.
Doug built his forever home with his own two hands in Midway where he served as a Planning Commissioner and member of the City Council with many years of volunteering in the Swiss Navajo Taco booth at Swiss Days.
Doug was a General Contractor. He built many homes throughout Northern Utah. After 30 years, he hung up his tool belt and became a Licensed Building Inspector for Park City.
He had a passion for long mountain drives, fast cars, John Wayne, old westerns, Hallmark movies, NCIS, and family barbecues. His dedication to his family and his simple joys will be cherished by all who knew him.
Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jacqueline Chipman Jensen, who cared for him unconditionally for the last several years of his life.
