Doris Katherine Harper

Doris Katherine DeLong Harper passed away peacefully in her home in St. George, Utah, on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the age of 89. Doris was born May 28, 1928 in California. She made a 34 year career in the banking industry with First Security Bank, holding many executive positions. In 1983, Doris was reunited with an old friend, Rex E. Harper, who had recently been widowed, and they married on April 11, 1984. When she married Rex she inherited his children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Doris cared for Rex during many years of failing health until his death on December 13, 2008. Doris loved her association with the Dixie Widows of Elks and looked forward to their luncheons. Her favorite day was a trip to Mesquite to gamble and have lunch with her daughter. She is survived by her daughter, Lynne (Jim) Pappas and son Drew (Becky) Harper, both of St. George, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Doris’s good friends, Pennie, Al and Sally for checking on her every day. Graveside services will be on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 12:00 at the Oakley, Utah cemetery under the direction of Heber Valley Funeral Home.
