Donna Buhler Thacker passed away peacefully at her home in Heber City, Utah on August 22, 2016. She was born on January 26, 1932 at her Grandmother’s home in Pleasant Grove to her thrilled parents Morris Buhler and Ruth Smith.
Donna grew up and attended school in Midway, Utah. She attended Wasatch High School where she was a cheerleader. She loved to dance and always had a full dance card. She attended BYU where she studied Home Economics. Donna was an excellent seamstress and did beautiful handwork and needlework, often winning blue ribbons at the local & State Fairs.
After seven years of courtship she was married to Wayne B. Thacker on May 14, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a homemaker and was blessed to have four children. She was very active in LDS church and community, having served as the Relief Society President in both the ward and Stake, as well as many other positions.
Wayne & Donna were delighted to serve together in the Charleston, West Virginia Mission where once again Donna served as the Relief Society President.
Donna is survived by her loving husband Wayne, her sister Genevieve Coleman, and her four children: Shauna (Steven) Horner, Lyn Christian, William B. (Karen) Thacker, and John Wayne Thacker, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Madison Thacker.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought much joy and happiness into her life and she always looked forward to their visits and remembered their birthdays.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27 at 11:00am in the Heber 15th Ward, 715 East 600 South in Heber City. Viewings will be held at the same location, Friday, August 26, from 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30am. Internment will be in the Charleston Cemetery.
