Donna Nielsen Rasmussen passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 26th, 2019 in South Jordan, Utah. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Those close to Donna knew her as a kind and giving person—truly an elect lady. She loved and served those around her. She brought out the best in people, changing lives wherever she went. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She deeply loved her Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Donna was always quick with a smile and an “I love you.”
Born on June 25th, 1923 in Roosevelt, Utah to Albert Wellington and Roseltha Collett Nielsen, Donna was the youngest of their seven children. Donna married Rulon Erastus Rasmussen, her high school sweetheart, on August 23, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of six children. She enjoyed boating, family vacations, music, painting, and genealogy.
Donna attended LDS Business College and the University of Utah. During World War II, Donna and Rulon lived and worked in Washington DC. In 1950, they moved to Arizona where they raised their family. They have lived in Sandy, Utah since 1984.
Donna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous church callings throughout her life. Rulon and Donna presided over the Colorado Denver Mission from 1981-1984 and dearly loved all their missionaries. Following their mission, she served as Stake Relief Society President and as a temple ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rulon, son Duane, great-granddaughter Emma Rasmussen, sisters Mae, Veda, Gladys, and Chloris, and brothers Albert and Kenneth. She is survived by her children: Steven (Nan), Linda, Kathleen Williams (Bruce), Bryce (Lynette), Diane Burrell (Jim), twenty-one grandchildren, and sixty-eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Willow Creek LDS Stake Center, 2350 East Creek Road, Sandy, Utah at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2019. A viewing will be held immediately prior to the services from 10:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m. at the same location. Burial will be at the Draper City Cemetery.
