Succumbed to life’s challenges in the wee early hours of October 27, 2020, but her earliest battle was at birth weighing somewhere between 2-3 pounds, and 5 ½ weeks early to Loyd Everett Morris and Flora Mae ”Jackie” Webb Morris on October 8, 1951 in San Jose, California.
Donna grew up in Cupertino, CA. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as a young teen while attending Mutual with friends. It changed her life and eventually her whole family joined because of Donna’s influence.
She received her double degree at BYU in Education, Science and Early Childhood Development. Her first teaching assignment was out in the Uintah Basin, which she loved. Then she was hired at J.R. Smith Elementary in Heber City, Ut, where she taught 2nd and 4th grade. Donna’s enjoyment during her life was being an elementary teacher where she influenced and inspired so many students, too numerous to count. They lovingly called her “Miss Morris”. Donna retired in 2009 after 32 years of dedicated service.
In her earlier years she battled cancer and is a survivor and served for many years with Relay For Life and helped so many people handle their struggles.
Donna loved and lived The Gospel. She loved our ward family and they became her family. She loved teaching Relief Society and spent many years serving in the primary again surrounding herself with little children who continued to be her pride and joy.
Donna was a true friend. She loved her neighbors and friends. The Fit Stop was her second home. A special thank you to Nora Lundin and the rest of the Fit Stop family. You kept her moving!
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Steve Morris and her loving pets: Gus, Graham Cracker, Cooper, and her little puppy Mike, Molly’s brother.
She is survived by her sister Elaine Morris, Sister-in-law Sandy Chase, and nieces: Alaina Williams and Melissa Wicklow and 7 great nieces and nephews, and her beloved Molly Dog.
Donna was an avid reader. She loved continued learning and surrounded herself with so many books. Her home could have been a public library. We will certainly miss her white car speeding down the road to town buying more groceries to fill up her already bulging fridge.
“To teach is to touch a life forever”. That is exactly what Donna did.
