Our husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend, Donald John Young, passed away on December 18, 2019, from injuries related to an accident. He was 86 years old. He was a quiet example of kindness, love, and hard work, and we will forever treasure his impact in our lives.
Donald was born on September 17, 1933 in Vineyard, Utah. He was the oldest of nine children and grew up in Wallsburg, Utah, where he graduated from Wasatch High School and later served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following his mission, he proudly served our country in the Army during the Korean War. Donald had the reputation of having a strong work ethic and worked the coal mines, drove a school bus, and spent his later years working the fields of his family’s land while living close to many of his younger siblings. Donald found joy in being outdoors, watching sports, and spending time with his family.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, John Young and Harriet Florence Young, along with his sister Nina Young. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, JeNeal Henderson Young; his two daughters, Amy Young of Orem, Utah and Kris Young of Wallsburg; and two sons, Shane Young of Wallsburg and Eric (Sommer) Young of West Jordan, Utah. Donald was the grandfather of three grandchildren, Clara, Gracie, and Bryce, who meant the world to him. They will miss their grandfather deeply and his peaceful demeanor will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he attended in Wallsburg, at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2019, with a viewing held prior from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Wallsburg Cemetery.
