Don Beck Larsen

October 24, 1934 — September 22, 2018

Don Beck Larsen, 83, passed away in South Ogden, Utah, on the morning of September 22, 2018, hours before his five brothers and sisters gathered one last time for a family reunion. Born in San Pedro, California on October 24, 1934, and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the third child of Quis and Grace Larsen. He attended Stewart Training School and South High, graduating from the University of Utah in mechanical engineering in 1956. While in college, he met Madelyn Wootton and they were married in 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. They eventually relocated to Washington state as Don, an Army reservist, was called up to Fort Lewis. After retiring from Boeing in the late 1990s, he and Madelyn served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Seattle, Washington Mission. Upon the death of his wife in December of 2017, Don moved to Utah to be closer to family.

Don loved Scouting (he was awarded a Silver Beaver), elk, his 1969 Ford truck and organizing the trash for garbage collection. He is survived by his five siblings, Jean (George) Thomas, Shirley (Gary) Loveridge, Stewart (Annette) Larsen, Ralph (Joyce) Larsen and Lynn (Cynthia) Larsen, and his five children, Jeff (Kris) Larsen, Cynthia (Merrill) Clark, Martha (Michael) Pronk, Rebecca Larsen, and Jon Larsen, and 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Midway, Utah cemetery. A family and friends gathering will follow at the LDS Chapel at 1102 S. Center Street in Midway, Utah.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Kaiser Permanente (formerly Group Health) in Bellevue, Washington, the administration, staff and CNAs at Hidden Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care in South Ogden, and all the caring assistants and nurses from Comfort Worx hospice.
