Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Dixie Rae Hatch Mair passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2020 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dixie was born July 27, 1944 in Heber City, Utah to Leo and Deon Hatch. She married Gordon Mair on October 16, 1959. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Las Vegas, NV Temple.
Dixie grew up in Heber City, UT where she married her high school sweetheart and raised their 5 children. She moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1985, then moved back to Heber City in 2011.
Dixie had many talents, and there was nothing she couldn’t do. From crafts to cake decorating, flower arrangements to remodeling houses, she could do it all. She was an accomplished seamstress and could sew anything without needing a pattern. Her home was her pride and joy and she kept it and her yard immaculate. Many times, daily, cars would stop just to admire it. She always wanted people to be working and could out-work most people half her age.
Dixie spent many hours serving her friends and neighbors, and she loved serving in the temple. She made every grandchild feel like they were her favorite, and they were. She made every person she met feel important.
Dixie was able to travel to many wonderful places and she made friends everywhere she went. She never met a person that didn’t become her friend.
Dixie is survived by her children; Randy (Lori) Mair of Roosevelt, UT, Richard Mair of Heber City, Kristina (Dave) Dertina of Las Vegas, NV, Ron (Tabatha) Mair of Heber City, UT, Susan (Mark) Petersen of LaVerkin, UT. Siblings Mike (Lori) Hatch, Marc (Brenda) Hatch, Kent (Kathy) Hatch. Twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Mair, Parents Leo and Deon Hatch, infant son Leon Burt Mair, great-grandson Kole Mair, sister Karolee Mair, daughter-in-law, Nancy Markham.
