Delta Lapreal Young
January 28, 1936 — March 11, 2016
Delta LaPreal Young gained her angel wings on March 11, 2016 in Heber City, Utah surrounded by her family. She was born on January 28, 1936 in Strawberry Utah, to Forest and Eila Ivie. She was the older of two children and enjoyed gardening with her parents and sister on their family farm. She lived in Strawberry but walked many miles to Duchesne for school and there she participated in the Band and played the flute.
She met her soul mate LaVerl Young 61 years ago in 1955, while LaVerl was on the winter-range herding sheep. They were sealed for time and eternity in the Provo Temple in 2012. Soon after being married they became the proud parents of LaPrial, Gary and Cindy Young.
Delta was a true spitfire that was always by her husband’s side. They spent many hours with there children logging cedar post and pinion out in the Uintah Basin known to them as “Indian Country”. She was his “right hand man.” She spent many hours helping her husband create and finish handcrafted woodworks. When they were not side-by-side she enjoyed raising her children, getting special visits from her grandchildren during summers, sewing blankets, collecting porcelain dolls and cooking for her family.
Delta was employed by the Homestead Resort in Midway, Utah for over a decade and only had to quit because of an injury. She also spent many hours as a relief society teacher. She loved her husband, children, grand children and her great grandchildren they were her world.
Delta is survived by her husband LaVerl Young; children Gary Young, and Cindy Bustamante; grandchildren Shannan Seiter, and Shauntel Seiter; great grandchildren Terrence, Carlos, Ryan, Jocelyn, Gabriel, Diego, Valencia, Lillian and Aviana.
She is preceded in death by her parents Forest and Eila Ivie; sister Darlene Mace; and daughter LaPrial Young.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday March 16, 2016, at 11:30 am at the Wallsburg LDS church at 495. W. Main Canyon Rd. Viewings will be held on Tuesday evening March 15, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at the Wallsburg LDS church on 495. W. Main Canyon Rd. as well as Wednesday 10:00am to11:00am before the funeral service. Burial at the Wallsburg Cemetery. Condolences maybe shared online at www.probstfamilyfunerals.com
