David Eugene Haacke (51) passed away on November 29, 2021 in Provo, Utah surrounded by his loving and prayerful family. David was born on February 23, 1970, in Provo, Utah to Clyde and Rosida Haacke. He was a great older brother to four brothers and one sister. He took his birthright seriously in giving each one of his younger sibling’s nicknames such as Mr. Cool, Gyro, and Winnie.
David grew up loving sports and was an avid fan of BYU. He spent his younger years in Sugar City, Idaho active in sports, church, and mischief. David developed an interest in medicine when he was surrounded by doctors and nurses after a car accident that nearly took his life. After his recovery he served a mission in the Uruguay Montevideo Mission, in South America for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. While there he mastered the Spanish language which he used frequently the rest of his life.
Shortly after his mission David fell in love with and married Allene Todd in the Washington DC Temple on June 19th, 1992. David was a devoted husband for 29 and a half years. He took special care of his family. He and Allie were diligent, wonderful parents to Erin Hart (28), Jordan Post (25), Elder Joshua Haacke (21), and Jayden Peterson (21). David was also an amazing grandfather to his four grandbabies; Jackson and Theo Hart, and Liam and Grayson Post.
David was passionate in searching out and defending the truth. He took his job as a physician seriously both in research and in tender kindness during his immeasurable hours in the Emergency Room saving lives and healing the sick. He was the type of doctor that many sought out specifically to heal their illness. David’s keen problem-solving skills, kind words, and quick wit will be extremely missed by those who know and love him.
