Darlene John Jacklin Porter passed away on December 15, 2025, in her cherished winter paradise of Mesa, Arizona, following a short illness. A devoted servant of our Heavenly Father, she was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life.
Born the youngest of six children to Thomas and May Vereen John, Darlene grew up in Cherry Hills on the family farm just outside Malad, Idaho. After graduating from Malad High School, she moved to Salt Lake City, where she met John Jacklin. The two were married and sealed on June 4, 1965.
Darlene and John welcomed two sons, John Trevor and Troy, while living in Salt Lake City, and later a daughter, Tiffany, after relocating to Denver. As a young family, they embraced an active life filled with church service, outdoor adventures, sports, and skiing. John passed away in 1984.
In February 1986, Darlene married Lloyd Porter, who brought five children into the blended family: Marty, Steve, Kathy, Sandy, and Todd. Together, Darlene and Lloyd cultivated a shared love of travel and square dancing. They spent their summers in Colorado and their winters in Arizona, living out their vision of paradise side by side. Darlene treasured her large and loving family, which grew to include numerous grandchildren and several great‑grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, John; her parents; and all of her siblings.
A graveside service will be held at the Heber City Cemetery, 680 N 550 E, Heber City, Utah. Interment will follow. Date and time to be annouced.
