Darcy Jacobsen – beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend – passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on April 28, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Darcy was born on January 31, 1963, in Murray, Utah, to Douglas and Ruth (Peterson) Erickson. She grew up in Sandy, Utah, the only daughter in a family of six children. On June 29, 1981, she married Lonnie Jacobsen and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Darcy was the mother of four children and grandmother of six.
Darcy loved the outdoors and found every opportunity to enjoy the natural world – gardening in her backyard, running marathons and all around Midway, hiking daily with her husband, camping and backpacking with her family, and taking in the sights of various national parks across the country. She was an incredible homemaker and enjoyed taking care of the people she loved, especially her grandchildren. Known for her tireless energy, Darcy was always busy helping and serving others at home, at work, in her LDS ward, and neighborhood. Wherever she went, she tried to make people feel better than when she found them. Her kindness, her sense of humor, her grit and dedication, and capacity for love will be greatly missed.
Darcy is survived by her husband, Lonnie; children, Heather (Kevin) Keele, Erik (Mallori) Jacobsen, Matt (Charissa) Jacobsen, and Steve (Stephanie) Jacobsen; brothers, Hal (Lorene) Erickson, Garth Erickson, Clay (Carie) Erickson, and Kyle (Jennifer) Erickson. She is also survived by her grandchildren and many friends. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother, Steven Erickson.
There will be viewings on Thursday, May 3, from 6-8 pm, and Friday, May 4, from 10:30-11:30 am, at the Midway LDS Church building at 250 East 200 South. A funeral will be held at 12:00 noon at the same location, following the viewing on Friday. Interment at Midway City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Humanitarian Aid Fund.
