Connor T Oberg McNaughtan

April 27, 1987 — September 10, 2025

Connor T. Oberg, son of David and Julie McNaughtan and special son of Rick and Sandy Averett who helped take care of him for the past 24 years, passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 38.

Connor was their forever boy. Though he grew older in years, he remained forever two. He brought light and laughter wherever he went. He was a simple soul with kindness in his heart but sure could hold a grudge. He had an incredible spirit and a deep capacity for love, especially for his family and caretakers, who adored him beyond measure.

He was known for his playfulness, especially when teasing his siblings. He often burst into spontaneous laughter and to this day, no one knows quite why. We can’t wait for the day we meet again to finally hear what was always so funny.

Connor loved the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. Each Halloween, he proudly wore his witch’s hat and vampire cape and went trick-or-treating with his parents to visit family and close friends. Christmas was always a highlight he could hardly wait to open his gifts, even though they were the same every year: a pretend snake, Old Spice deodorant, a magazine, and a new sleeping bag. These simple traditions brought him great joy.

He had favorite things that made him feel happy and confident his Batman pajama bottoms, a Scooby-Doo T-shirt, watching Friends on TV, getting his hair done, smelling good, and going to the mall. And he was quite the flirt, especially when a cute girl was helping him.

Connor brought so much joy to everyone who knew him. Special thanks go to Kim Anderson, Alva Gonzales-Blas, and the incredible team at Chrysalis, who gave him such a full and joyful life. Deep gratitude also goes to the doctors and nurses at Utah Valley Hospital especially those in the ICU and on the eighth floor for their compassionate care.

Connor is survived by his loving parents David and Julie, and his loving second parents Rick and Sandy; his sisters Sara and Hallie; his brothers Jake (Maddie) and Steve (Lexi); his grandmothers Hi, Pat, and Carol and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by Grandpa Lassen, Grandpa and Grandma Oberg, Grandpa McNaughtan, and Grandpa Olson, all of whom he loved deeply and who loved him back in the special way only grandparents can.

“Although my needs may be special, I am special and I am a child of God, like you.”

Connor will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him. He was surrounded by love every day of his life, and his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Until we meet again, we love you, our forever boy.

A private family ceremony will be held on September 20th, with interment at Heber City Cemetery.
