Claudia Dalton Mayoh

February 27, 1950 — August 3, 2023

Our sweet Mother, Claudia Dalton Mayoh, 73, of Heber City, Utah, passed away at her home on August 3, 2023.

Claudia was born on February 27, 1950 at the old St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah to Marlin and Della Dalton, the second of six children. The family moved around some, but eventually settled in Heber City, where Claudia graduated from Wasatch High School. She then attended beauty school in Salt Lake.

She married her best friend, Leslie Mayoh on June 7, 1970. Together, they had three beautiful children that they were both so very proud of. Through the years, Mom had many jobs. She worked for many years as a CNA to both Dr. Boggess and Dr. Jensen, and for a time she also worked at the Heber City Hospital. She then worked in Park City for quite a few years in housekeeping. She thought she had won the lottery when she was hired as a Southwest Airlines reservation agent. Mom always had a thirst for traveling, and she thought with this job, it would make it easier on her and Dad to travel after she retired. Sadly, that didn’t work out as planned, as we lost Dad in 2007 before she could retire and live out their plans. Of all the jobs that Mom had, she loved being our Mom. Her favorite job by far though was when she was promoted to Grandma, and later on Grandma-Grandma. She loved children, and they were drawn to her bright smile and loving nature.

Mom had a very strong work ethic, but she also loved to have a good time. There wasn’t much she wouldn’t try at least once, even if it did give a few of her kids a little anxiety at times. Mom loved to visit with anyone and everyone. She became grandma to all her grandkids friends, and when those kids started having kids, she became grandma-grandma to them as well. Mom was the biggest supporter and cheerleader to everyone she met. She wanted to see people happy and she loved to see people succeed at life.

Mom LOVED her dogs. Gunner and Benny were her most faithful companions until the very end. If Mom needed to run errands, you could almost guarantee her dogs were with her, and she usually stopped to get them cheeseburgers while they were out. One of her friends once commented, "When I die, I want to come back as one of your dogs, I have never seen anyone take as good of care of their dogs as you do”. Mom thought this was the cutest thing she had ever heard and still talked about it.

Mom faced many health challenges the last fifteen years of her life. But, just like everything Mom ever did, she faced them with bravery and dignity. Just two weeks ago, she was released from her cancer doctor for reaching her five year post diagnosis mark.

Claudia is survived by her daughter-in-law Kristine Mayoh, her daughter Tabatha (Ronnie) Mair, her son John (Heather) Mayoh, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as her brother Bob (Paula) Dalton and sister Lynn Alexander. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leslie, her son Jamie and stepson Tim. Also, her sisters Beth and Lawanna, her brother Wayne and her dog Duke.
