Chris Sabey

July 23, 1965 — July 2, 2022

Chris was never known to be a man of many words, so we’ll try to make this short and sweet, just like he would want it. Chris was born and raised in the Wasatch back, but according to Chris it was really the Wasatch front. He was known for his love of the mountains, horses, and the simplicity of life in a small town. His favorite time of year was Fall when the weather cooled down and he could finally escape to the mountains for a hunting trip with his father and sons. And although nothing could quite beat hunting or a horseback ride, Chris had many hobbies and achievements over the years including playing sports as a young boy, riding bulls (much to his mother’s dismay), breaking horses, and earning his 1983 1st Place Spikers Belt Buckle, that he wore often and proudly. In his life he earned a degree in heavy equipment mechanics and enjoyed following in his father’s footsteps as a hardworking farmer and sheep shearer, but his greatest achievement was being a father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren.

While his job took him to faraway places, he always looked forward to coming home to Wallsburg. Shortly after moving back, Chris met his wife, who had the same desire for a simple life in the quirky, but endearing town of Wallsburg; and surrounded by her and his family, he was finally home. Despite the rough and tough exterior Chris liked to present, Chris was a genuine and loving man who gave everything to those he cared about, and showed his goofy side to those he was closest to. Although Chris was always on the go, when he did stop and take a break, he loved to relax with a John Wayne movie, a bag of sour cream and onion chips, a diet coke, and his loyal companion Sissy. Chris touched many lives over the last 56 years and will be loved and remembered by those here today. With a heavy heart we say farewell to our favorite cowboy, but can be comforted knowing we will see him again one day.

He is Survived by his wife Camille Sabey, Parents: James Edd Sabey and Marie Carlson Sabey, Siblings and their spouses: Lori and Greg Dean, Nancy and Paul Johnson, Melanie and Lane Burdette, Children and their spouses: Kyndra and Seth Sawls, LaKrista and Brayden Powers, Tyler and Matty Sabey, Chase Sabey; Stepdaughters Nikole, Myranda, and Savannah Robinson; Grandchildren: Kardyn, Kali, and Robyn Sawls, Phoenix, Creed, and Briggs Powers, Wilder Sabey, and was loved by many nieces, nephews and his beloved Border Collie Sissy.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 6-8 PM and again on Saturday from 9-10:30 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11 AM at the Spring Creek Ward, 494 West Main Canyon Road, Wallsburg, Utah 84082. Interment will take place following the service at the Wallsburg Town Cemetery.
