Charles Floyd Poston, age 90, of Heber City, Utah, passed away September 3, 2026, after having been in hospice care for a month. Charles "Chuck" enlisted in the Air Force in 1955, and served in the military for twenty years. He was a Korean Conflict, Vietnam Era and Peacetime veteran. His assignments in the military police included Barksdale AFB, Louisiana; Giebelstadt AFB, Germany; and England AFB, Louisiana. In 1975, Chuck was accepted for the Office of Special Investigations (OSI). He served at Bakalar AFB, Indiana; Taipei Air Station, Taiwan; Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; George AFB, California; and Carswell AFB, Texas. He also served an isolated tour at Ubon Air Station in Thailand for nine months. He retired from the USAF on August 15, 1975. After ending his service in the military, Chuck spent twenty-five years in a second career, working as a Loss Prevention Officer for Walgreens Drugstores.
Chuck had a passion for singing and became an active part of choirs and special groups wherever he lived. He was in an acapella quartet (Grace Notes) in Glendale, Arizona, which not only gave him an avenue for his enjoyment of music, but also developed into lifelong friendships with the members of the group. Chuck was a faithful Christian, who loved to worship the Lord in song.
He and his wife, Deanna, really enjoyed traveling. Whether by plane, train, cruise ship or automobile, they spent many years touring the world and the continental United States. When his wife passed away from cancer in 2015, Chuck moved to Utah to live with his daughter and son-in-law in Fruitland.
In 2017, Chuck decided to move to "The Abbington," an Assisted Living facility in Heber (now "Spring Gardens"). The staff and fellow residents there quickly became like family to him. They made his final years enjoyable and encouraged his talents in singing, dancing and telling jokes.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Debra (Deb), of Fruitland, Utah; son, Daniel (Rebekah) Poston, of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughter Jessica (Ross) Miller, of Herriman, Utah; grandson Jason (Olivia) Baker of Duchesne, Utah; grandson Kyle Poston and granddaughter Sydney Poston, both of Phoenix, Arizona; niece Anita (Bill) Schmidt of Standish, Michigan; and niece Jennie Thorner of Westland, Michigan. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Nathan, Brayden and Roman Baker; Levi and Dalton Miller; Miles and Mira Poston; and Liam Prince.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna (Dalton) Poston; parents, John (Lucile Gore) Poston; in-laws Robert (Verna Fields) Dalton; daughter, Sandra Emery; sister, Katie McAlister; son-in-law Andrew Baker; niece, Amanda Poston; and great-grandson, Carson Jay Baker.
A graveside ceremony with full military honors will be held at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona, at a date to be determined later.
