Carol Santy was born Carol Berry on December 1st, 1933 to William J. Berry and Leona Brown
Berry in her beloved Park City, Utah. She graduated from Park City High School in 1952 and was
thrilled to have been the class valedictorian.
Carol was introduced to music, specifically piano, at the age of 8. She took to it like a fish to
water. She initially took lessons from Ms. Fletcher, a longtime resident of Park City, however, it
soon became apparent that she needed more advanced lessons, so her sister Billie, signed her
up and paid for lessons at the McCune School of Music in Salt Lake City. For 7 years, Carol
would take a bus to Salt Lake City, by herself, every Saturday, for several hours of lessons. This
helped to fine tune her piano skills. In High School, she met and eventually married Jim Santy,
another Park City local, in 1953. Jim, who was also a music enthusiast, attended Westminster
College and obtained an education degree in music thanks to a lot of help from Carol who
would help him learn, read, and write music. Dr. Payne, a music professor of Jim’s at
Westminster College, soon recognized Carol’s talent and recruited her to accompany many
performances at Westminster College. By her early 20’s she performed Rachmaninoff’s and
Chopin concertos for the Westminster College Community Orchestra. She went on to
accompany many musicians, teach piano lessons, and played for many other occasions including
being the longtime Park City Community Church piano player.
In addition to her love of music, she also loved the medical industry. In 1976, Carol became a
Medical Assistant and worked at the Park City Family Health Clinic for over 22 years. Patients
who had to be seen regularly would always ask for Carol to be their Medical Assistant.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Jim Santy Sr., their son Jim Santy Jr., and her sisters
Wilma “Billie” Larremore, Mae Berry, and her brother Edward Berry. She leaves behind her
daughters, Gena McNeil and Carolee Polvere (Stephen). She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren,
Lena Upton (David), Adam Kelley, John Santy, Michael Santy, and Samuel Polvere, as well as four
great grandchildren, Amelie Upton, Miles Upton, Carter Upton, and Roman Kelley and many
nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Carol will always be remembered for her incredible musical talent, her kind spirt, charming
nature, incredible personality, and her delightful sense of humor. We would like to thank Spring
Gardens Senior Living Community in Heber for the many years of helping take care of Carol.
Their kindness and love will not be forgotten. We would also like to thank Enhabit Home Health
